NHL team faces backlash after anti-Israel banners in arena force statement
The St. Louis Blues saw a slew of comments go against the team president's statement about Israel-related flags at a recent home game. St. Louis Blues chairman and governor Tom Stillman condemned "antisemitic rhetoric in all forms" after fans displayed anti-Israel banners at a home game against the Vegas Golden Knights. The banners read "Israel Kills" and "Free America from Israel," with one containing a Star of David covered in blood. The statement was distributed across all social media platforms and received over two million impressions and 5,000 likes in less than a day. Thousands of others commented on the official Blues post, expressing their disapproval. The Blues, 2019 Stanley Cup Champions, sit sixth in the NHL's Central Division standings and have only qualified for the Western Conference Playoffs just once in the last four years.
