But the little city, set in green countryside with a population of about 900, is now embroiled in the fallout from its own police shooting, recorded by an officer’s body camera. One recent spring afternoon, at the edge of a lush lawn, one of Sturgeon’s two police officers drew his gun and killed a small, fluffy white dog.
“It was pretty shocking for everyone,” said Tracey Williamson, who has lived in Sturgeon all her life. “We are all pretty upset about it.”
