Report: Spirit of St. Louis Airport closed after emergency landing
An emergency airplane landing at Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Missouri closed the runway; no injuries were reported. A small airplane had to make an emergency landing at Spirit of St. Louis Airport Monday morning, according to a report from KTVI-TV.
The St. Louis Fox affiliate reports “hydraulic problems” were the reasoning for the emergency landing which resulted in the aircraft collapsing to the ground on the runway. Two people reportedly came away from the plane with no reported injuries.
The airport is reportedly closed until further notice.
On its website, Spirit of St. Louis Airport writes its been the “Business Aviation Center of the midwest for half a century. The airport features, ‘a 7,485-foot all-weather runway, a 5,000-foot parallel runway, precision approaches, an FAA control tower, and 24-hour customs services.’
Monday’s incident comes after the airport hosts the annual Spirit of St. Louis Airshow & STEM Expo. The event hosts thousands each year and is often a kickoff to summer activities in the region.
