For almost the entire duration of her career in Congress, Rep. Cori Bush has claimed credit for bringing home community project funds commonly known as "earmarks." Rep. Cori Bush, known for her role in Congress as "earmarks," has claimed credit for delivering $2 billion to St. Louis, but the majority of the funds were not unique to St Louis, nor were specific funding decisions steered by her office. Local elected officials, school boards, and public health departments also contributed to the funding. While the $1.1 billion she claims credit for has been set aside for the region, it is estimated that over half of the $498 million intended for the city has not yet been spent.
