Some folks avoid driving at night because it can be more difficult to see the road. Visibility is such a crucial part of getting from A to B safely each time.

The Illinois Department of Transportation has been working to improve visibility around a big intersection of highways in Fairview Heights and Caseyville around I-255 and I-64.

IDOT's head engineer, Joel Cumby, says these new LED lights are a big upgrade.

"The project is nearing completion. the poles are up and functional. And we should be removing traffic control soon," said Cumby.

And finally, a reward if you've made any time sacrifices around I-255 and I-64, new lights and better visibility driving through Caseyville and Fairview Heights in the evening.
