ST. LOUIS — A 15-year-old boy on Thursday morning led officers on a high-speed chase after he carjacked a woman at a QuikTrip near the city's Midtown neighborhood, police said.

Police were called about 11:30 a.m. to a QuikTrip in the 2600 block of Chouteau Avenue for a 52-year-old woman who told officers a teen approached her at the gas station and indicated he had a gun.

The 15-year-old then got into her 2020 Kia Telluride and drove off, police said.

Officers found him soon near Natural Bridge and North Grand avenues in the city's Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood, police said.

The teen did not stop for police and sped off. Officers chased him until they were at North Kingshighway and West Florissant Avenue, when the teen got out of the disabled car and ran away.

Officers chased him down, arrested him and referred him to the city's juvenile court.
